About PixelParty

Built by people. Tested at real weddings.

Your wedding is not the place to beta test somebody's new AI website. PixelParty has been running events since 2023, first on the web and later in the app stores, and more than 120,000 events have been through it. It is operated by a registered UK company you can look up in about a minute, which is exactly what we would tell you to do before trusting anyone with your photos.

Things you can check without taking our word for it

Every one of these is verifiable somewhere we do not control. That is the only kind of claim worth making on a page about trust.

A website is no longer evidence of anything

Two years ago, a convincing website took a designer, a developer and a few thousand pounds. It was never proof of a good product, but it was proof somebody had committed something.

That is gone. A polished landing page, a brand, a set of glowing testimonials and a confident About page can now be produced in an afternoon by one person who has never run an event.

This is not a complaint about AI. We use it. The problem is narrower and more useful than that: the website used to be a signal, and it has stopped being one.

What has not got cheaper is the part you actually depend on. Handling eighty simultaneous uploads at the end of the speeches. Coping with a venue whose wifi is one bar. Converting an iPhone photo into something every guest's phone can display. Keeping a gallery online eighteen months later.

None of that is visible on a landing page. All of it is visible in an app store update history, a company record, a support reply and a set of reviews on somebody else's platform.

So look at those instead.

Before you pay anyone

Do not just look at the website. Look behind it.

Seven questions, about five minutes, and they work on any provider in this market. Including us. Especially us.

  • Who actually operates it? A trading name is not a company. Look for a registered company, a number and an address you can check on a public register.
  • How long has the product existed? Not the domain, the product. A site can be registered years before anything works, and a polished website can be three weeks old.
  • Are there reviews you did not find on their website? Testimonials on a company's own page are marketing. Reviews on Google, an app store or a review platform are harder to manufacture and easier to check.
  • Is it in the app stores? Not because you need the app, but because store listings show a developer name, a release date, a version history and reviews the company does not control.
  • Is it actually being maintained? An app store shows the last update date. A product nobody has touched in a year is a product nobody will fix on your wedding day.
  • Can you reach a human? Send a question before you buy. How long it takes to get a real answer is the most useful test available to you.
  • What happens to your photos afterwards? How long is the gallery open, can you export everything at full resolution, and what happens if the company stops trading.

How to spot a disposable website

None of these proves anything on its own, and plenty of good companies do one or two of them. Several together is a pattern worth noticing.

Copy that sounds polished and says nothing

Long sentences full of confident adjectives that never quite tell you what the product does, how much it costs or how long you keep your photos. Generated marketing copy is fluent by default and specific only when someone made it be.

One page like this proves nothing. A whole site with no numbers, no dates and no names is worth a second look.

Reviews that all sound like the same person

Same rhythm, same length, same enthusiasm, no specifics. Real reviews mention the venue, the thing that went wrong, the feature they wanted. Search a phrase from a testimonial. If it exists nowhere else on the internet, that tells you something.

The test is not whether reviews are glowing. It is whether they exist anywhere the company does not control.

No company behind the brand

No registered company, no address, no named people, and a contact form as the only way to reach anyone. In the UK you can look up any limited company on Companies House in under a minute.

If you cannot work out who you would be buying from, you cannot work out who to chase when it breaks.

A product with no history

No release notes, no version history, no app store listing, no changelog, no sign of anything having been fixed or improved. Products that have run real events carry the scar tissue.

A website can be generated in an afternoon. Three years of running other people's weddings cannot.

Marketing that is more mature than the product

The landing page looks like a company with fifty staff. Then the actual product is a form, and the help centre is one page. That gap is the thing to notice.

Judge the product, not the page describing it.

Emoji doing the work of evidence

Rockets, sparkles, hearts and confetti standing in for specifics. Plenty of good companies use emoji. It is a signal only alongside the others here, never on its own.

None of these signals proves anything by itself. Three or four together is a pattern.

Your wedding is not a test environment

A normal website going down is annoying. A photo gallery going down during a wedding is different in kind, because there is no second attempt. You cannot reconvene a hundred and twenty people next Saturday and ask them to upload it all again.

That is why reliability is not a feature on a list here. It is the product. Everything else is decoration on top of whether it works at nine o'clock on the night, in a room with bad signal, on a phone nobody tested.

The unglamorous part

What has to work behind a QR code

Your guests see three taps. Here is a fraction of what sits behind them, and why a product that has run real events behaves differently from one that has not.

Everyone uploads at once

The speeches end and eighty phones open the gallery in the same ninety seconds. That burst is the entire engineering problem, and it is the one moment a demo never tests.

Phones are not one thing

iPhones, Androids five years old, Safari, Chrome, a browser inside Instagram, someone's work phone with a locked-down profile. It has to work on all of them, in a room with poor signal.

Photos are big and videos are worse

A modern phone video is hundreds of megabytes. Uploading it over a rural venue's wifi without losing it halfway is not a feature, it is months of work.

HEIC, orientation and the rest

iPhone photos arrive in a format that half the web cannot display, rotated in ways only the metadata knows. Every one has to be normalised before anyone sees it.

It has to still be there later

Storage, backups, and a gallery that opens as fast in eighteen months as it did on the night.

Somebody has to be watching

Monitoring, error reporting, and someone who notices when a specific phone model starts failing, before the couple does.

The checklist, applied to us

We have filled in our column. The third one is for whoever else you are considering, and it is deliberately blank.

We are not claiming every newer provider fails these questions. Some will pass them comfortably. The point is that you can now only find out by asking, because the website will not tell you either way.

Where reviews actually mean something

Testimonials on a company's own website are chosen by that company. They are marketing, and treating them as evidence is the single easiest mistake to make when you are comparing providers.

Reviews on a platform the company does not control are a different thing entirely. They cannot be curated, they accumulate over years, and the volume tells you how many people actually used the product rather than how many the marketing team liked.

PixelParty has a 4.9 average from more than 400 Google reviews. Go and read them rather than taking the number from us, and read the ones in the middle as well as the top.

Then do the same for whoever else you are considering. If the only positive things you can find about a provider are on their own website, that is the finding.

Who will still be here when you want your photos?

Worth asking, and not hypothetical. Services in this market do close, and when they do the galleries go with them.

You are not really choosing a QR code generator. You are choosing where a set of irreplaceable photographs is going to live, and how easily you can get them out again.

So ask how long the gallery stays open, whether that covers uploading as well as downloading, and whether you can export everything at full resolution as many times as you like.

Our answer: 12 months on Classic, 24 on Plus, unlimited full-resolution exports throughout.

And then download them anyway. We would tell you the same about any provider, ourselves included. The only copy that is genuinely yours is the one on your own drive.

One provider in this market is closing on 31 October 2026. If you have a gallery there, that is worth reading today.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is this page saying competitors are fake?

No. There are several genuine, established companies in this market and we compare ourselves with them openly elsewhere on this site, including where they do things better than us. The point of this page is that a good looking website is no longer evidence of anything, so you should check rather than assume. Apply the checklist to us too.

What is wrong with using AI to build a website?

Nothing. We use it ourselves. The problem is not the tool, it is treating a generated marketing page as proof that reliable software exists behind it. Those are different things and they always were. AI just made the first one nearly free.

How do I check PixelParty?

Look up PIXELPARTY GROUP LTD, company number SC854567, on Companies House. Read the Google reviews rather than the quotes we chose. Open the app store listings and look at the update dates and the reviews we do not control. Then email support with a question before you buy anything.

How should I judge a provider's reviews?

By where they live and how many there are. A handful of testimonials on a company's own website tells you very little, because the company chose them. Look for reviews on a platform the company does not control, and look at the volume. PixelParty has a 4.9 average from more than 400 Google reviews, which you can read yourself rather than take from us.

What happens to my photos if PixelParty stops trading?

Download them. That is the honest answer from any provider and the reason we make exports unlimited and full resolution. A service closing with your only copy inside it is a real risk, and it happens in this market.

Your wedding deserves more than a website that looks good.

It deserves a product that works when it matters. Check us the way we have just told you to check everyone else, then decide.
