Wedding photo sharing without an app

Your guests should not have to download anything to send you a photograph. PixelParty gives your wedding a QR code and an event link. Guests scan it, the gallery opens in the browser already on their phone, they type a first name and upload photos and videos. No app, no account, no password.

The real problem

Why asking guests to install an app fails

The failure is not that people cannot download an app. It is that at a wedding they will not. Somebody is holding a drink, the signal is poor, and the app store wants a password they have forgotten.

So the guests who install it are the ones who were always going to send you photos. The ones you actually wanted, the uncle with four good photographs of the speeches, quietly do not bother.

There is a second cost that is easy to miss. Every install is a decision, and every decision is somewhere the chain breaks. A browser page has no decision in it. It is already open by the time they have finished scanning.

The measure that matters is not how good the app is. It is what proportion of a hundred and twenty people actually send you something.

What a guest actually does

Four taps, about ten seconds, and nothing installed at either end.

1

Point the camera at the code

No scanner app. Both iPhone and Android read QR codes from the normal camera.

2

Tap the banner

Your gallery opens in Safari or Chrome, the browser they already use every day.

3

Type a first name

So you know who sent what. No email, no password, no account.

4

Choose photos and videos

Straight from the camera roll. Then they are done and back to the party.

The real thing

What your guests actually see

Three screens from a live PixelParty event. There is nothing between the code and the upload.

The PixelParty guest page on a phone, showing a wedding cover photo and a Share Your Moments button

1. Scan the code

Your event opens in the browser already on their phone. Nothing to install.

The PixelParty upload menu showing Upload Photos, Disposable Camera and Leave a Voicemail

2. Choose what to share

Photos and video from the camera roll, the disposable camera, or a voice message.

The PixelParty gallery on a phone, a grid of wedding photos with reactions

3. It lands in your gallery

Everything in one place, with reactions, albums and full-resolution downloads.

Comparison

Included

What you get, beyond the uploads

Live slideshow

Photos appear on a TV or projector seconds after they are taken, which is also the best advertisement for the code on the tables.

Disposable camera mode

A camera inside the gallery with filters powered by Snapchat, for the guests who want the disposable camera feeling.

Audio guestbook

Guests leave a voice message rather than writing in a book nobody opens twice.

Full-resolution downloads

Everything, as often as you like, at the size it was uploaded rather than a compressed copy.

Your own QR code and link

Print it on signs, place cards, an order of service, or send the link in a group chat.

A gallery that stays open

12 months on Classic, 24 on Plus, for uploading and downloading both.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do wedding guests need an app to share photos?

Not with PixelParty. Guests scan a QR code or open your event link, the gallery opens in the browser already on their phone, they type a first name and upload. Nothing is installed and no account is created.

What if a guest refuses to install anything?

They do not have to, which is the point. Everything happens in Safari or Chrome. There is no prompt to install, no app store redirect and no banner asking them to reconsider.

Does it work on older phones?

Yes. Anything with a modern browser and a camera works, which in practice means almost any phone at a wedding. Older Android phones and iPhones going back several years are the normal case, not the edge case.

What about guests who are not confident with technology?

The whole interaction is point the camera, tap the banner, type a name, choose photos. There is no password to remember and nothing to set up in advance. If somebody can take a photo, they can do this.

Is there a PixelParty app at all?

Yes, for hosts. There are iOS and Android apps if you want to run your event from your phone. Guests never need one and never see it mentioned.

Can guests upload video without an app?

Yes. Video uploads the same way as photos, straight from the camera roll, and it is included on every paid plan.

Test it on one person before you print anything.
