What is a disposable camera app?
A disposable camera app turns your guests’ phones into cameras for one event and collects everything they shoot into a single shared album. The name comes from the paper cameras that used to sit on wedding tables, which did the same job for more money and came back from the lab half blurred.
PixelParty does it without anybody installing an app. Guests point their phone at your QR code, the camera opens in the browser they already have, and they shoot. There is no download, no account and no sign-in, on iPhone or on Android, and that stays true for the AR lenses as well.
It is one way into your QR code photo album rather than the whole product. The same code also takes photos and video from the camera roll, records voice messages, and runs the live slideshow.

Turn the camera on
It is a switch on your event, beside the guest gallery and approval ones. Off by default, so it appears only at the events you want it at.
Guests scan the code
The same QR code as everything else. It opens your event in whatever browser is already on their phone, with nothing to install and no account to make.
They put a name in
The camera asks who is shooting before it opens, so every photo arrives attributed. It is one field and it takes a second.
They shoot with real lenses
A shutter and a carousel of 21 Snapchat lenses, plus a no-filter option. Flash and front camera work the way they do in any camera app, because it is using the real one.

What the lenses actually do
Four kinds of effect, all of them running live in the viewfinder rather than being applied to the photo afterwards.
Face lenses
Tracked to the face and moving with it. Hats, masks, ears, whole transformations. These are the ones that empty a dance floor into a corner for ten minutes.
World lenses
Anchored to the room rather than the person, so an object sits on the table and stays there while the phone moves around it.
Colour and film looks
Grain, wash and light leaks applied live, so the guest is composing the photo they will get rather than editing it afterwards.
Frames and captions
The event name and date around the edge of the shot, which is the closest thing here to the paper camera it replaces.
Lenses are approved by us and can change. Guests scroll them on a carousel under the shutter, with a no-filter option in the middle, so nobody is forced to use one.

What is a disposable camera app?

PixelParty does it without an app: guests scan a QR code, the camera opens in their browser, and they shoot. The name comes from the paper cameras that used to sit on wedding tables, which did the same job far more expensively and far less reliably.
Do guests need to download anything?
No. The camera opens in whatever browser is already on their phone. There is no app to install, no account to create and nothing to sign in to. That is true on iPhone and on Android, and it is true for the AR lenses as well.
How do I make a QR code for a disposable camera?
Create your event and the code exists straight away. Turn the disposable camera on in your guest options, then print the code, put it on a screen or send the link. Anyone who scans it gets the camera.
Are the filters real Snapchat lenses?
Yes. The camera runs Snap Camera Kit, so the 21 lenses on the carousel are genuine Snapchat lenses with real face and world tracking, not colour filters laid over the image afterwards. Guests do not need Snapchat installed and do not need a Snapchat account.
Can I stop guests seeing the photos until later?
Yes. You can hold the album shut and reveal it at a moment you choose, or leave the guest gallery off entirely so uploads arrive without guests getting a way to browse them. You can also require approval, so nothing appears until you have seen it.
Is there a limit on how many photos each guest takes?
No. PixelParty does not cap shots per guest, which is a real difference from most apps in this category: they limit you to a set number to imitate a roll of film. Uploads are unlimited on a paid event.
Is the disposable camera app free?
You can create an event and try the camera without paying and without a card. The first 10 uploads are free. After that one payment opens the event to your guests, from £34.99, and it is not a subscription.
How long do we keep the photos?
A year to upload and a year after that to download on Classic, and two years on Plus. Everything downloads at full quality, in one go.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Both. The camera runs in the phone browser, so it works on iPhone and on Android without either one installing anything. There is no version of this that works on one and not the other, because there is no app to be missing from a store.
Can I print the photos afterwards?
Yes. Uploads are kept at their original resolution rather than being compressed for the web, so a photo a guest took on a recent phone will print. You download the whole album as one file.
Is a disposable camera app better than real disposable cameras?
For most events, yes, and mainly on the things that are easy to check. Paper cameras cost more once you have bought one per table and paid for developing, most of the frames come back unusable, and you wait weeks to find out. The one thing they have is the object itself sitting on the table, which is a real charm and not nothing.
Can I turn the camera off for some events?
Yes. It is a switch on each event and it is off by default, so it appears only where you want it. You can turn it on and off during the event as well as before it.
