Somebody uploads
A guest at the bar takes a photograph and adds it. They are not thinking about the screen.
It appears on the wall
Within a moment, at full size, in front of everybody. Including the person who took it, who did not expect that.
The room notices
Two things follow. People who had not scanned do, and people who had start taking better photographs, because now there is an audience.
Events running a slideshow collect noticeably more than events that are not, and it is this loop rather than the screen itself that does it.
The empty screen is not empty
Most screens at an event spend the first twenty minutes showing nothing, or a holding slide nobody reads. This one shows your code at full size with an instruction above it.
So the moment the screen goes up it is recruiting, and the first photograph tends to arrive within a few minutes of somebody noticing it. After that the loop takes over and the screen never goes back to this state.
It is also the reason the slideshow is worth switching on early rather than once the album has something in it.

Why it earns the screen
The empty screen is the best invitation you have
Before anything is uploaded it shows your code at full size with "Be the first photo" above it. A blank screen for the first twenty minutes is a wasted twenty minutes; this one is recruiting.
It changes what people shoot, not just how much
Once guests work out that what they take goes on the wall, the photographs get better. It is the single biggest change to what ends up in the album.
It runs itself
Nobody presses anything and there is no laptop to babysit. It is a web page: anything with a browser and an HDMI cable will run it.
What is actually on the screen
Everything in your QR code photo album. Photos guests uploaded from their camera roll, shots from the disposable camera, and video. If you have approval on, nothing reaches the screen until you have seen it.
At a wedding the screen usually goes up during the reception. At a party it tends to be the entertainment rather than the background. At a memorial it runs quietly at the wake.

What is a live photo slideshow?
A live slideshow puts your event album on a screen and adds each photo as it is uploaded, rather than playing a set of pictures chosen beforehand. Guests scan the code, upload, and see their photo appear a moment later.
What do I need to run it?
A screen with a browser. A smart TV, a laptop plugged into a projector, or a tablet propped on the bar all work. It is a web page, so there is nothing to install and nothing to license.
What does it show before anyone has uploaded?
Your QR code, large, with "Be the first photo" above it. That is deliberate: an empty slideshow is the best invitation you have, and it stops the screen being a black rectangle for the first twenty minutes.
Can I stop something appearing on the screen?
Yes. Turn approval on and nothing reaches the album, or the screen, until you have seen it. You can also hide a photo after the fact, and hiding does not delete it: it stays in your download.
Does it need good wifi?
It needs the screen to be online, and it will keep showing what it already has if the connection drops. Guests upload over their own mobile data, so a venue with weak wifi affects the screen rather than the uploads.
