Why it is a code and not a link
A link has to be sent to somebody, which means you need a way to reach them and a moment when they will act on it. A code can sit on the table in front of them while they already have their phone out.
That is the whole difference in participation rates, and it is why the album fills from people you would never have messaged: the friend of a friend, the second cousin, the person who left at ten.
You get the link as well, for the group chat and the calendar invite. Most albums fill from both.

What is a QR code photo album?
A QR code photo album is a shared album that guests add to by scanning a code rather than by being invited to an app. The code opens the album in the browser their phone already has, they pick photos or shoot new ones, and everything lands in one place that belongs to you.
How do I make a QR code for a photo album?
Create the event and the code exists straight away. Name it, pick a date and a look, and you have a code, a private link and printable cards. There is nothing to generate separately and nothing to configure before the code works.
Is the album private?
Yes. It is reachable by the code or the link and it is not listed or indexed. You can also turn the guest gallery off entirely, so people can add to the album without being able to browse it, and turn on approval so nothing appears until you have seen it.
How many photos can guests upload?
Unlimited, on a paid event. There is no cap per guest and no cap on the album. The free trial is limited to the first 10 uploads so you can try it before paying.
Do guests need an account?
No. No app, no account, no sign-in. They scan, they add, they are done. They put a name in so you know who uploaded what, and that is the whole of it.
Can I download everything at full quality?
Yes, in one action. Uploads are kept at their original resolution rather than compressed for the web, so what you download is what the phone took, and it prints.
How long does the album stay up?
A year to upload and a year after that to download on Classic, and two years on Plus. Late uploads still have somewhere to go, which matters more than it sounds: a good share of them arrive days after the event.
